Dear Friends:

Does your  life as a Christian attract non-Christians?  The life of a godly person will be so attractive that one close to you will probably sayRuth 1:16      “For where you go, I will go. Where you stay, I will stay. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.”

Dear Friends:

God often speaks to the spirit residing in a person’s heart, rather than to the person.  For example, God told Ezekiel about the evils of the King of Tyre.  But, as he did so, I believe he spoke to Satan, the power and spirit behind that evil king.  He is saddened by Satan’s sin and fall from grace:

Ezekiel 28: 12-19

"You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

Dear Friends:

When you feel the presence of God, you will say:

 Psalm 9:1-2

“I Will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart;

I will tell of all your wonders.

“I will be glad and rejoice in you;

I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.”

Dear Friends:

The Bible assures us that it is the word of God, and that:

Rev 3:17  “These are the words of him who is holy and true . . ,”

However, we need to believe not just that the gospel is true, but that it is true for us.  In other words, it is not just an abstract concept, but it is the basis for the way we live our lives.

Dear Friends:

You know the plot. The bad guys are afraid. There is a witness who can testify against them. Word is getting around. The heat is on. The bad guys decide to kill the witness.

Plot for a movie? No. Plot for a TV series? No. Plot in the Bible? Yes!

John 12: 9-11

"Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him."

Dear Friends:

Have Christians confided in you that there are times when their faith is weak, when doubt creeps in?  Remember that faith will not be strong every moment of the day, just as your body will not be strong every moment.  Doubt is like a fever that will pass with care and rest.

There are others who have not received Christ, and have not believed.  Remember also that we are to be a light to them, that they may be saved.

So, when you are with one who doubts, or one who does not believe:

Jude 22

“Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them.”

Dear Friends:

I close these messages by saying "Grace and Peace". By saying "Peace", I am wishing for you to have peace in your heart and life. The peace I am wishing for you is the peace of God. All of us have "wished" these things for others hundreds of times. In some other languages the expression is so common that it has lost real meeting. "Shalom" for example.

Compare what we do with what Jesus did:

John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.”

Did you notice that after the resurrection, Jesus greets the disciples with the words: "Peace be with you." It can't be coincidence that the word "peace" is found in John's gospel only in these two places

Dear Friends:

Have you ever prayed that if God would just do something you wanted, you would do something in return, such as go to church, give money, or be a better person? Haven’t done any of that. Well, how about your marriage vows?

Ecclesiastes 5:4

"When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow."

Dear Friends:

The Word refers many times to sowing seeds. Christ used the parable of the sowing seeds of the Word on the paths, the rocky soil, among the thorns, and in the good soil. Paul, in first Corinthians 15, uses the illustration of the seeds falling to the ground as though dead, only to be resurrected in a different body. But never forget, that whatever we sow:

Galatians 6:7

"God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows"

Dear Friends:

When the Jews returned from exile in Babylon, the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt quickly.  But, once the city was safe from attack, the people built their own houses, and even finished the walls of their houses with cedar paneling.  They had taken good care of their own needs.  But, they had forgotten what was important.

Haggai 1:3-5

“Then the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, saying,   ‘Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses while this house lies desolate?’   Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘Consider your ways!’”

Each of us needs to look at priorities in our lives.

Dear Friends:

You may hear some “religious” people speak of new rules which God now wants you to observe.  Others may tell you that some of God’s commandments were for a rural society of centuries ago, and can be disregarded since they are not “relevant” to our times.  Perhaps you could remind these people that God was pretty clear about such views:

Deuteronomy 4:2

"You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you."
